The
inception of the idea to set up the Faculty of medicine is not surprising,
because the pioneers there were several people while a physician among them is
the founder of Indonesia Atma Jaya Catholic University, namely Dr. A.H.
Tjahjadi. Some of the other specialist is Dr. Njo tiong Tjiat, Dr. A.W.J. Soeradi,
SR., Dr. Regis Rukmarata, CB. Finally on December 27, 1967 was issued Decree
about establishment of the Atma Jaya Foundation Faculty of medicine Atma Jaya
Catholic University of Indonesia. The use of the facilities of the University's
Faculty of medicine teaching Indonesia was made possible thanks to the
collaboration with various head part of the Faculty of medicine, University of
Indonesia. On 12 September 1969 registered status from the Ministry of
education and culture. Atma Jaya hospital as a clinical doctor education to
land, began to be used in 1976. Atma Jaya Hospital prior to its completion,
most of the clinical education is done in the Hospital St.
