The
company was founded in June 2007 by Djoko Susanto who has been in the retail
industry since the 1960s. The company was founded under the name of PT Midimart
Utama, with the first ' Alfamidi ' outlets on JL. Garuda, Central Jakarta. The
concept of Alfamidi developed to match changes in consumer spending from the
monthly shopping into a weekly shopping and shopping to the nearest store.
Alfamidi was developed as a concept of the ' mini ' supermarket that occupies
the area of sales of 200-400 square meters; where about 20% of the extent of
the use to post fresh-food products (fruit, vegetables and frozen food). The
product mix sold in the Alfamidi reach 7,000 SKUS and equipped with fresh
products-food, such as fruits, vegetables, and processed meats/frozen food
needed by society and not found in outlet stores-minimart.
